MUST-HAVES
- 5+ years of IT experience preferably as a system administrator, software engineer or as an operational support engineer
- 3+ years of Python and or Perl scripting to extract raw data.
- Experience with maintenance and administering of web monitoring systems
- Looking for local Philly area, must be able to relocate on their own if out of state
NICE-TO-HAVES
- Experience with AWS
- Knowledgeable in relational database software and concepts, specifically Oracle and/or MYSQL.
This is a full time Technical Specialist Software Engineer position within the Technical Operations unit of Clarivate Analytics supporting online customer facing applications. The individual will gain experience in automation and perform during a time of migration to AWS.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong UNIX / Linux skills command line interface
- Experienced in supporting and troubleshooting applications and related issues.
- Support applications in a cloud environment
- Understanding general statistical concepts ie. Identifying trends, understanding what the data is presenting.
- General understanding of Java, Apache and Tomcat applications.
- Solid working knowledge and troubleshooting experience of Internet technologies such as TCP / IP protocols, DNS, HTTP protocol and proxy servers.
- Ability to write effective Python and/or Perl scripts to extract information from raw data.
- Understanding of multi-tiered web application architecture.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to demonstrate creative thinking, advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to coordinate and work effectively with offshore team based overseas, e,g. India.
- Flexible and easily adaptable to change.
- Ability to multi-task with regular interruptions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintenance and administering of web monitoring systems.
- Provide day-to-day support, maintenance and troubleshooting of tools the team supports and ensure the availability, performance, and security of the overall system
- Generate and distribute regular reports of performance and usage of customer-facing systems.
- Provide support and training for internal users of the reporting and monitoring tools.
- Ad-hoc analysis of traffic patterns based on historical monitoring.
- Coordinating and collaborating with business stakeholders on various issues and projects.
- Partnering and working with data center operation and technology teams providing reporting data to assist with resolving issues throughout the enterprise.
- Provide analysis of irregular patterns and error rates observed via monitoring and reporting.
- Work with both offshore and onshore teams in all aspects of technology operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related technical degree or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 3+ years of Python and or Perl scripting to extract raw data.
- 5+ years of IT experience preferably as a system administrator, software engineer or as an operational support engineer in a dynamic environment.
- 3+ years of experience administering multiple monitoring systems, implementing best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledgeable in relational database software and concepts, specifically Oracle and/or MYSQL.
- Experience with AWS
- Exposure to computer security concepts.
- Experience with the following monitoring systems; Truesite, Sitescope and Dynatrace.
