Network Administrator II New Kensington, PA


  • Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • 3 - 5 years experience managing mid/large-size networks
  • 5 years experience configuring and maintaining routers and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • 4+ years experience in the operations of communications system, telecommunications, MPLS, VoIP/QoS network systems, security administration, monitoring, and network performance turning
  • Experience with installation, configuration and monitoring of routers, switches, wifi and firewalls.
  • This position is primarily a Network Administration position. Its day to day tasks will be the installation, configuration, and monitoring of all PCNA routers, switches, wifi, and firewalls. This candidate will also be used to assist the System Administrators with daily Admin needs, ie. AD account creation, basic Exchange admin, and basic server admin. After hours and weekend availability is a must.

    FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES: - Capable of assisting with the Installs, configuration, and troubleshooting of workstations, servers, and network hardware. - Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new system setup and upgrades. - Works on moderately complex assignments and problems of moderate scope. - Communicates highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel. - Provides technical support to internal and offsite users. - Identifies root causes of moderately complex problems and recommends solutions. - Manages, develops and documents network operational procedures. - Assists in the managing of servers, storage devices, routers, switches, hubs. - Administers and monitors Active Directory including user and group security management and group policy enforcement. - Manages daily backup jobs to ensure minimal risk to corporate information assets. - Manages and track network equipment assets. - Monitors and reports network operations; usage, capacity, change management. - Responds to and resolves Help Desk tickets relating to network issues. - Handles repetitive support issues with little or no supervision. - Receives little to no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. - Logs, tracks, and analyzes issue reporting and management. - Participates in projects and tasks to improve quality of service and increase efficiency of IT Help Desk and supports process. - Understands and drives positive relationships between IT and PCNA Staff. - Provides superior customer service to end users. - Responsible for business-critical systems and applications that operate 24/7/365. - Participates in the on-call rotation schedule. - Performs other duties as assigned. - Maintain a positive attitude towards coworkers and other employees. - Foster and maintain and atmosphere of trust, tolerance and respect in which all employees can enjoy teamwork, accomplishment and appreciation

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Active Directory, Group Policies and Network Services
    • Complete working knowledge of routing, switching, and firewalls.
    • Complete understanding of MPLS, VLANs, Cisco routing protocols primarily OSPF, and QOS
    • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems - XP, Windows 7, 8 & 10 and Apple OS
    • Palo Alto networks and Aruba networks desired.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    • 5-year Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
    • 3 - 5 years experience managing mid/large-size networks.
    • 5 years experience configuring and maintaining routers and Palo Alto firewalls.
    • 4+ years experience in the operations of communications system, telecommunications, MPLS, VoIP/QoS network systems, security administration, monitoring, and network performance turning.
    • Experience in planning, design, implementation and documentation of data network and communication systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience implementing and managing web servers, internet security, firewalls and Cisco ASA devices.
    • Hands-on experience with network architecture.
    • Experience with network monitoring processes and tools, including packet sniffing and diagnostics.
    • Experience managing Cisco and Aruba wireless environments.
    • MCSE and Cisco certifications desirable. Apple Macintosh knowledge is a plus
